| The 2010 Olympic Games will no doubt be amoung the biggest and most impactful events in my lifetime taking place in the city I'm proud to call home. The Olympics are an incredible opportunity for the world to come together in celebration of excellence in sport. However, although the Olympics are a sporting event they are really about so much more. To me, the Olympics are about education and development, they are about love, pride and making connections, and ultimately they are about peace.
Hosting the Olympic Games provides us all with an opportunity to showcase our city, province, and Nation to the rest of the world and stand proud together. The Games are a chance to celebrate culture; first and foremost our own. British Columbia has a very strong and diverse culture and I am so proud and excited to share this with the world. Of course it’s not just about us though. It is also a chance to share and learn about many of the other worldwide cultures, make lasting friendships that transcend traditional borders, and celebrate community.
The Olympic Games represent Excellence, Respect, and Friendship so I urge you to embrace each moment while keeping these values close to your heart.
The experience will be over before we know it, but the legacy will last a lifetime.
GO CANADA!
